Freeman Media is an experienced Wellington-based publisher of business news and information services for corporate, professional and large organisation readers. It also runs industry events.

It was established in 2002 by Matt Freeman publishing business magazines and websites in the telecommunications and IT sector including titles Telecommunications Review, The Line and m-net. These publications were sold in 2007.

Energy News is a subscription-based news and information website for the New Zealand energy sector. Energy News was launched in 2008 and has carved out a niche as the trusted source of sector news and information.

Matt Freeman - Managing Director B.Com (Adelaide)

Founder Matt Freeman has nine years experience in niche business media and has won numerous awards for his publications. Like many publishers he has a broad range of skills including writing, editing, sales, marketing, accounting and design. His editorial interests are in business reporting. Freeman’s previous business experience is predominantly in sales, marketing and management in the retail travel and telecommunications sectors.

Gavin Evans - Editor B.A. (Victoria), Dip. Journalism

Gavin started his career with the Evening Post in Wellington in 1988. He has spent the past 16 years in financial journalism, first with the New Zealand Press Association and then with Bloomberg News prior to his current appointment. In that time he has covered most of New Zealand's major corporates, as well as specialising in energy, ports and forestry.

A teacher by trade, Madeleine manages the day-to-day financial operations of Freeman Media and is a founding director of the business. Madeleine is studying to complete a BCA and teaches 5 year old children part-time.

Edward recently moved back to Wellington after 3 years in Sydney. In 2009 he gained experience working at Fox Sports Television (Premier Media Group). He has had articles published in the Sydney City Hub and the Sydney Inner West Independent newspapers.

Ross is a marketing graduate from Victoria University in Wellington. He recently returned from the UK where he was subscriptions coordinator and account manager for a range of financial publications covering the global aviation financing, asset management and insurance and re-insurance markets. He is a qualified tennis coach and has five years experience coaching in Wellington and the UK.
